At many companies, the costs of IT services are unknown or only partially known, because the company’s operational accounting is designed for the company’s products and not for IT services.
There are many consequences: On the one hand, departments complain about the lack of cost transparency in IT and have few possibilities to manage their IT service costs. On the other, IT has no benchmarking option and thus no basis for its sourcing or optimization decisions. The establishment of an IT financial management can solve these problems.
